Akihabara & Harajuku

Akihabara: Akihabara is like, the coolest place. When you see pictures of Tokyo with the bright lights, giant plasma tv`s, and heaps of people, it`s probably Akihabara. Also known as Electric City, this town has everything you need to satisfy your electical acessory addiction. Laptops, digital cameras, printers, lights, USB`s. Oh, don`t even get me started on USB`s. They have everything from humping dogs, to Dragon Ball Z characters doing crunches, chamelion`s that change colour, lego. Seriously, EVERYTHING. I bought `Hammer Man` from some show. He`s really cool. He blinks, cheeks go red and he has up to 70 different phrases tht he says in Japanese.

Harajuku: When you hear the word Harajuku what do you think of? Gwen Stephani? Chicks dressed up as Sailor Moon and Little Bo Peep? Now, when I think of Harajuku, I think of the show. The show smells like waffles, Harajuku smells like fresh made crepes. At the show, carny`s are always yelling at you to have a go, and in Harajuku shop assistant just keep yelling. I bought heaps of stuff, only like 1 item of clothing though, the rest were accesories and stuff. Seriously, 80% of stuff I`ve bought is for other people. I wait for inspiration to come to me of what to buy people, that way don`t stress out because I cant find anything for them.

Observation #2 Driving in Japan makes no sense at all

First of all, driving is Japan is scary enough without having to think about the lack of street names, stop and give way signs. Sure you‘re only doing 40km/h but when the streets are so narrow and theres cars coming at you, it sure is scary.

Today, I went to Wako Kokosai High School with Mayu, where I was swarmed with Mayu‘s friends, calling me ‘kawaii!!‘ and ‘she‘s so cute! ^__^‘
Kawaii wasnt the only thing I was called today, after introducing myself in Japanese to the entire teaching staff, homeroom and two english classes i thought people would know my name, but somewhere, lost in translation, a teacher was calling me ‘Benjamin‘. Hahahahaha. No doubt,me and a student who had lived in England for 7 years whose english was fabulous, thought it was hilarious.

But not to worry, I soon corrected him and returned to my teaching, reading aloud to the class. Also, who would have thought it would be so hard to answer such simple question like ‘are there many Jews in Australia?‘ and ‘what is the difference between wander and wonder?‘

After school, Mayu, Ana, Kotomi and myself went to Games Centre and got very cool AZN photos done (will post later) then went to a giant book/dvd/comic/games building where i bought Mario Party for $25. (who cares if it is all in Japanese)

Now we are just chilling at home waiting for dinner. Off to school again tomorow, then who knows...

Missing Australia and all my friends and family

Breakfast: Day One

Now I promise that I wont write a separate post for every meal, but this story comes with a lesson.
I got up this morning and came down for breakfast. Mayu is at school today, so its just me and her mum and dad. The Mum started cooking me breakfast and then put it on the table for me, and for a chick my size, it was a big meal!
Two peices of toast, fried egg, lettuce, little sausage thing and three big slices of boiled potato and a coffee. So i ate the toast (with vegemite, i dont know where it came from, but it wasnt opened) then sprinkled salt on the egg, sausages and potato (I like alot of salt). I continued to eat the egg and sausages then stuck my fork into the potatos expecting to hear a smooth kinda of sound, or no sound at all. Instead, I got a crunchy sound. And thats when i knew, it wasnt potato at all....
It was cut up APPLES, now covered in salt.
>_<
lame.
SO the moral of the story boys and girls is to make sure you know what your eating, before you cover it in condiments.
The End.

Observation 1: Jetstar budget flights are really good!

But of course, I was lucky enough to afford pre-paid long meals, and entertainment for both flights, and pre-paid meals mean, UNLIMITED NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS :D so of course I received as many free drinks as my little belly could handle and a pretty nice meal. Meal 1: Teriyaki Chicken with rice and carrot and beans, bread roll, and a chocolate bar. Meal 2: Beef Pie (sauce included) and a Weis Bar (mango and cream flavour, if you were wondering). I wasnt bored at all because i had my trusty entertainment unit that had new release movies, tv shows (including GOSSIP GIRL!) music video, and more.
I was almost tearing up when they announced that we had almost arrived in Narita. Gosh I love Japan so much. But on the way over I was convinced that I was crazy for doing this. . Going to a foreign country alone for schoolies? Pure Crazy! But so glad I did. Its the kind of person I am.
I arrived to a sign that read `WELCOME JASMIN` and a very cute Japanese family. It was so cold outside that you can breathe that smoke stuff, much different to the weather that I left behind at the Gold Coast. We stopped on the drive home to get a coffee for me, and some food for Mayu`s family whom were very hungry.

Please Note: You know when you get like an instant coffee at maccas or even when you make it as home yourself its kind of gross? Well, in Japan it is so yum! Because everywhere had little sachets of creamy milk and it makes it yum! :)

Anyway, the drive home took for ages!! Kind of like the drive from the start of Brisbane to Tweed Heads. On the highway for like an hour! It was crazy. Then we finally got home and I gave them their presents (not customary, but reccomended).
Then had a shower/bath, then off to bed!

End of school forever

It's finally OVER. This week I graduated, celebrated, then got dressed up. It has been an exhausting, fantastic week. Here's some photos.
Graduation- Sam, Aex, Josh, Isaac, Me, Kirsten.

Grad After Party- Sam, Kirby, Me.

Then Formal! :) - Alex and Me

Formal was really good. Smythy's band played some good dancin' tunes and we got our groove on, and took heaps of photos.

Gunna miss it.

Gladstone

Off to Gladstone tonight to complete in esstedfod.. Yippee! I'm not actually excited about it. I'd rather stay at home and chill with Jamie but I guess it's going to be okay because he's coming too. And I've decided to learn how to cook. Seriously, I am so terrible at cooking. So when I have some time (which is hardly ever) I'm going to try and cook something which isn't from a packet mix.
Now I'm off to go eat some lasagne for lunch before I have to go back to school.

La Roux

I am really loving her music right now. Mostly "Bulletproof" and "Colourless Colour". She is just so groovey. I can just imagine myself dancing and touching myself in a club to it. Anyway, tonight I finally had a night off and for someone who works two jobs its a big deal. But it was really confusing. All night I've felt as if I should be at work or something. I planned to make dinner for Mum then I remembered that she wasn't going to be at home, which is a good thing because I can't cook for shit anyway. I imagined myself having mash potato, gravy and chicken. Sounds easy right? Nope, it wasn't. My gravy tasted funny and the potato took to long to cook so I got frustrated and went and bought dinner instead. At least my night will improve. Jamie is coming over after work and we'll go get McFlurrys :)

日本に 行きましょうか!

So schoolies, 2009. Instead of going to the Gold Coast and getting trashed and waking up every morning with a hangover, I get to go to TOKYO! I hosted a Japanese student called Mayu and now I'm going to stay with her! I'm planning on shopping the whole time! Yippee :)

Japan is soooo beautiful, I cant wait to visit again. I wish it was November already!

FAME!

Mr Scheinkoff (Sam!) and Lambchops (me!)

SO the musical is finally over! All our weeks and weeks of rehearsals, preparation, dancing and singing has finally paid off. We finished this weekend with three great shows. Friday night was OK, the crowd wasnt really into it, but I got the best surprise when my sister turned up backstage to surprise me, (she lives in Port Douglas, I had no idea she was coming) and she bought me a big bunch of flowers! She's lovely. My mum had secretly bought tickets for her and Courtney. Sneaky lady! Then my crowd was coming on the Saturday night, Mum (again), Pat, G'ma, Harley, Paul, Lea, Bree and Beth. It was a great night. The Sunday matinee wasn't too bad, the crowd was better than Friday nights' and we gave it all we got, and trust me, theres wasnt much left to give. Now that its over, I'm probably finally going to get sick. Was very fluey Friday, bad throat Saturday then all congested Sunday, and I couldnt really talk when I woke up this morning. It truly has taken its toll on me. And my hair! Four nights of hair teasing and a litre of hairspray, I'm going to have to train it all over again :(

And now that its over? Life goes back to normal. I go back to working two jobs, schooling, normal eating habits and hanging out with my friends/boyf.

Life is good :)

Brooklyn's last night.

So Brookie left for the Gold Coast on the first sunday of the holidays so we had our very last Kruff and Puff session with her :(
It was a very emotional night. We listening to Coldplay's 'Fix You' then Brooklyn started crying then Blake started crying. Then we got drunk and danced around.
We'll miss you Brookie :(

Formal

So last Tuesday Sam and I went formal dress shopping with her mum. So we went to the shops in Rocky and bought her dress (which she looks fabulous in by the way) and whilst I was sitting there watching her try on dress after dress I got totally jelous because I want my formal dress :( but i have to wait until my mother dearest has time to make it. But I have total and complete faith in her, that she will make me the best formal dress ever. And well, she made my sisters formal dress and by family rule, she has to make mine aswell. I want mine to be based on the $15,000 Valentino worn by Blair on her 17th Birthday party on Gossip Girl- Season 1.

Totally hot right? And Alex is planning our arrival and all that business so I'll leave that up to him. How exciting :D

I Love Ed.

I swear to God, that Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass) is THE sexiest man alive. He's an actor, he's british, AND he is in an idie rock band, seriously, what more can you ask for! And he gave Robert Pattison a run for his money in being Edward in Twilight. My recent Gossip Girl addiction has resulted in many late nights, and strong coffee in the morning. And i LOVE his J. Press Scarf! Made from old tie fabric its inspired me to make my own :) I went to the Op Shop today to buy more ties but it was closed to the "unforseen circumstances" :( I was devistated. I'll go tomorow. :)

Sinner.

My two favourite photo's of myself at the moment.

I miss.

I miss Brisbane so much already. I miss Jamie, and wondering about the city, dressing up just to go shopping. The funny little shops you find along the way. Alex found a shop called Laced, and it was off the steeet up some stairs in a loft. If I had an apartment in the city, it would be exactly the same. This is a nice little door we found on our way up the stairs.

I loved the pinafore my mum made for me. I designed it, but she sewed it. What a clever lady.

In the city we spent our hours taking photos on the balcony.

Then Jamie and I dressed up and roamed the streets just for the sake of it (on our way to JB-HIFI actually) and looked smashing whilst we did so.

It was a good escape for three days, then we had to come back to reality which is Yeppoon..

Brisbane.

I love this city. I love the shopping. I love the people. Everywhere you look theres so many fashionable people. Sam and I have been taking some stalker shots of trendy people. I'm really loving dyke haircuts at the moment. Everyone else is going home tomorow, catching the train. I get to stay three extra nights with my friends, partying, friends, shopping, uni and such. My plan for when Jamie and Alex go to uni, im going to pop over to Griffith Mount Gravatt and sit by a tree reading a book or something :) I'm really excited to live here at the end of the year/ start of next year. It's going to be great :)

Hamish.

Everyone in Yeppoon is freaking out about this cyclone coming. But I'm not really bothered. Instead of going out to buy emergency supplies I made a batch of emergency muffins. Yumm. Then I ate the mixture. Its was great! But anyway, people are like evacuating. Crazy. Its a bit to early to start doing crazy shit like that. Last night I stayed at Alex's and we continued watching Deathnote. It is seriously fast becoming my favourite show. I'm obsessed! For an anime character, Light's really hot! I wish I was an anime character with powers like Sailor Moon.
At a garage sale a week ago I found a cool couch for $10.

Mum was a bit skeptical at first but I could see the potencial this couch had. So I scubbed it down, and cleaned my room, layed down abit of carpet and my room is so incredibley groovey now! It's got a kind fo uni student feel to it.

Amazing what a simple couch can do for a room. :)

You've got Legz.

Day 2: Port Douglas.

Pretty bad sleep last night. There was something sqeeking or squaking non-stop from about 11-2am. The only conclusion that I could come up with in my sleepy-conciousness was that a baby bird had broken into the house and coudlnt get out. It seemed logical at the time. Had yet another dream about my boss/work which was very stressfull. Woke up reasonably early. Ate breakfast for once. Then bused it into town because Sam has the car. Went in search of hire cars but no such luck. Nice lady lent us her car. Got a juice and a cookie, and phone credit. Came home, got extremely lazy and watched 'The Castle'. Went into town again to get lunch, came home then got ready for horse riding. Nearly melted in jeans. Skinny jeans to be exact, how very, very uncomfortable. Got picked up by the company and bused out to the country. Got paired with a lovely horse called "Legz", hence the blog title. Rode through the rainforest, then came out onto the beach. Cantered across the beach and got lovely photos. Was absolutley amazing :) But now my arse, couldnt be any more sore. Not the muscle, the actually bones feel bruised, because it was a DAMN long ride. Two hours or something, but it was soooo worth it!

Legz the horse ^

Tomorow should be fun, lots of lazing-about planned. Super Nintendo, Nintendo DS ect.

But for now, I'm absolutely buggered, off to bed for me.

Paris is Burning.

So I safely arrived in Port Douglas. Took me two planes to get here and one really good book. I finished "Guitar Highway Rose" which I'm pretty upset about because I didnt expect to finish it so quickly, so I didnt bring my back-up book "The Push". >_< Dang. Oh well. Im going to have to amuse myself some other way on the trip back. But Sam was right, it was a really good book. It made me want to runaway and find a cool indie boyfriend but then I'm like hey, wait up, I already have all the independance I desire. But still, a lovely book.

This week will be awesome. Going horseriding on a beach tomorow arve. Then shopping in Cairns all day friday, then scuba diving on the GBR on Saturday. Im currently chilling out in the apartment but I hope Courtz and Sam get home soon. Im starving. And I need to pee. But there's no toilet paper. I think I can hold out until they get back. They're bring the toilet paper after all. Im going to have to amuze myself with 'The Biggest Loser' until their return. Yippee.

I'm so ready!

So today was my last official school day before I go on holidays, because Monday is a 'study at home day'. Pfft, yeah right. But I will actually be working my butt off that day. Going to Mikey's to film our English assignment then I'm going into school to do my Japanese exam. But both assignments/exams have been drafted and now all I need to do is memorize them! Which I'm pretty good at. Which is weird, because I can't remember events and stuff. That's why I use Alec and Trinette to fill in my primary school memories. Then on Tuesday I'm being whisked away by aeroplane to Brisbane, then on to Cairns! Much to Alex's dismay. Muhahah.

Saturday, February 14, 2009

Bree, and it's not the cheese.

Thank god the weekend is over. I knew it was going to be shit, and it was. I worked and worked and worked and finally I have the afternoon to myself, oh but that's right, I have an English assignment draft due tomorow. AND my computer doesn't have any microsoft office tools on it, at all! So I'm off to Le cousin's house to type it up. And she's made pancakes I hear so that's gotten me excited. And they will be good. That's why I love my cousin Bree. She bakes which is something I can never be effed to do. And we watch lame scary movies together. She's rad.

Trinette.

I'm loving her hair colour. For a while I've been thinking about dying my hair this kind of colour, really Haylee Williams-esque. But then of course Trinette would be all "ranger!". But I don't care. I think I'll do it anyway. Take that Trinette.

Lookbook

This girl is literally the cutest thing I've ever seen. I love her hair cut and the old man jumper. I'm really into that right now.

oh happy days.

My afternoon was really cruisey. I got back from the driver's lesson which went well, cooked some vegetable 'somosas' [very greek tasting] then slept for like an hour. I only got up because my brother rang me, otherwise I would have slept longer. Then I did some work on my english assignment, then Alex came over.
I love not going to school.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

A bit tardy.

Today I'm not at school. Mum woke me up saying "it's raining pretty hard, you can have the day off if you want."
Which was fine by me. Im using the day to take photos and 'work on assignments'. But I do have a driver lesson in an hour. I'm pretty excited. It means I can get my license soon :) very soon infact. I'm going to drive my friends on random trips to Rocky to the movies and such. Im quite hungry. Might go make a sandwhich.
Toodles.
x

So..

Ive only just started this thing. I probably shouldnt have because it will most likely distract me from my 'school work'. But let's be realistic, I don't plan to do alot of work while I'm at home, work is what school is for.
So that's me justifying myself.
What a noob.
